Race review: First up was Carolynn's and Christophers event. Carolynn ended up doing 2 laps of the rocky SAC River trails. She was doing well and actually lead for awhile. The heat got to her and she had to back off. Later in the race she crashed hard on a fast downhill section. She got back up to finish 3rd....Christopher's race was 1 lap (5 miles). He had a solid race for 4th overall. It's hard on him racing against the older kids, but he is holding his own - I'm proud of him.....I wasn't going to race because I have already locked up the Single Speed Championship, but Christopher said he was o.k. staying a couple more hours in the heat. There as a decent turnout in the SS class. A handfull of local SS ringers showed up thinking they were going to take home the cash. For a couple of minutes I actually thought they might, but my fitness and patients payed off as I slowly worked my way through the pack to take the win. I was very hard with the gearing I chose - 24 x 16. I usually run a 32 x 16 but was lazy and left the gear's from last weekends hilly Krug park event.
